About the Buy in Salem Program

Each year, businesses and local governments in the Salem area spend millions of dollars for goods and services from out-of-area suppliers. These are purchases that could play a significant role in the growth and development of the Salem community.

That’s why the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an initiative for area businesses to “Buy in Salem” – to look for purchasing opportunities within the Salem area – before they buy anywhere else.

Just five percent will do it!

We don’t expect everyone to shift 100 percent of their business purchases to the Salem area, but even a small shift would make a big impact. That money will “ripple,” too, as businesses spend their new revenue locally, for an eventual economic impact that is immeasurable!

It starts with you!

Making Salem a better place to live, work, play and shop starts with you – with each of us! Whether your business spends $100 or $100,000 annually, shifting just five percent of those purchases into the local economy will make a big difference.
