The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce conducts Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies as a free service to members.  Ceremonies can be performed by themselves or as a part of an open house or grand opening.  We bring the camera, official scissors and, of course, the ribbon!  To qualify, you should be a member of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and:

• You should be within your first year of opening your business
• OR you should be within a year of purchasing an existing business
• OR you should be an existing business in a new business location

The Salem Chamber's Agricultural or Ag Team is made up of 18 active Chamber members who are responsible for addressing issues pertaining to the agricultural community, coordination of the annual Saif Agri-Business banquet at the Salem Conference Center, and make a recommendation for the recipient of the Agri-Business of the Year award presented at the annual Business of the Year Awards banquet in June.

The Ag Team is also the driving force of the annual Chamber Agricultural Tour.  The date of the Ag Tour is set around the points of interest of the tour and appropriate harvest times.  Please refer to the Annual Special Events page for updates and tour schedule.

Deal programs such as Groupon are growing in popularity.  Businesses offer a discount in exchange for exclusive promotion to a responsive list of consumers who have opted in to the daily emails.  The list owners generally share a percentage of sales with the business owner.  The rest of the details vary by provider.  Here are a few in the Salem area:

Try It Local

Originally launched by a chamber of commerce in Kentucky, Try It Local was introduced to Salem by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce in June of 2011.  Try It Local pays local businesses a higher percentage of sales to local businesses when compared to most other deal programs, and a small percentage of sales goes to support the Salem Chamber.
