In an effort to acquaint our members with those seeking elected statewide office, the Salem Chamber will begin a series of Public Policy Sessions that incorporate in person interviews with a written questionnaire. Answers will be considered by our members, and recommendations will be made to the Salem Chamber Board of Directors for positional consideration. A Salem Chamber endorsement may not occur in every race.
Public Policy Sessions are open to all members of the Salem Chamber, and are a fantastic way to become “in the know” on policy making in our region.
The June installment of our Public Policy Session will take place 6/2/16 from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM in the Salem Chamber conference room (1110 Commercial St NE).
Races that are being considered during this session are House Districts 19 and 20. Each race has two candidates, and they are:
HD 19: Representative Jodi Hack (incumbent) and Larry Trott (challenger)
HD 20: Representative Paul Evans (incumbent) and Laura Morett (challenger)
All four candidates have confirmed their attendance, and this will prove to be a spirited discussion.
A key component to this process is a written questionnaire, and all candidates (with the exception of Representative Evans) have submitted their replies.
Public Policy Sessions are a benefit of membership, and made available to all Salem Chamber members and their employees
