It’s been a fast and furious past few weeks, and in order to stay abreast of what’s happening within local policy making…you have to be sharp. Let us give you a “cheat sheet” for the next few weeks:

Police Facility planning:

There are important dates in the process leading toward a police facility that will allow Salem PD to serve our community well into the future, and the chance to lend your voice to the process are right around the corner.

Wednesday, June 1st, 6:30 PM: Salem City Council will hold a work session, at which time a staff recommendation for the size and price tag options of a potential facility will be disclosed. Work sessions do not allow for public comment, as that requires a public hearing. The public is welcome to attend the work session. Click here for meeting agenda.

Thursday, June 2nd, 7:00 AM: Salem Chamber Public Policy Session. A brief overview of the staff recommendation will be presented to Salem Chamber members in attendance.

Wednesday, June 8th, 6:30 PM: A public hearing will be held for council to receive comment regarding staff recommendations. Attendance and oral testimony is strongly encouraged. If you are unable to attend, you may enter your written testimony into the public record by emailing it to citycouncil@cityofsalem.net.
