At our monthly Business Advocacy Meeting on October 10, we heard from two state representatives (one in favor of and one opposed to Measure 117) about the ballot measure that proposes a ranked-choice voting system for state elections in Oregon.
The meeting educated attendees about the measure and the concept of ranked-choice voting, which has been instituted in other states and local municipalities in recent years. Our guest speakers lent their perspectives, and shared case studies, as well as the reasoning behind their stances on this measure.
We thank our state representatives for their time and for sharing with our membership.
Measure 117 Speakers:
Representative Ed Diehl (HD 17) – Opposed to M117
Representative Charlie Conrad (HD 12) – In Favor of M117
This meeting also included a presentation by Oregon Business & Industry’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel Paloma Sparks, who provided a preview of OBI’s 2025 Legislative Agenda. This included what OBI hopes to accomplish in helping reform the regulatory processes and procedures of Oregon’s state agencies.
Thank you to Paloma Sparks for presenting and to everyone who attended another informative meeting.
