On September 9, the 2024-2025 season of the Forum Speaker Series kicked off with a discussion about the future of public education in our community led by three leaders of our local education systems and institutions.

Following an introduction by Dr. Salam Noor of the Mountain West Center for Community Excellence, Western Oregon University President Dr. Jesse Peters, Chemeketa Community College President Dr. Jessica Howard, and Salem-Keizer Public Schools Superintendent Andrea Castañeda shared the current state of education from their institutions as well as what they see on the horizon. Their presentations included information about incredible new programs and ideas for ways to change how we educate students to better prepare them for productive futures in the workforce.

We’d like to thank all of our presenters for their time and their leadership in the public education space.

We’d also like to thank the Salem Convention Center for providing the venue and meal, and Allied Video Productions and Capital Community Media for their help with producing this event.

Finally, a huge thanks goes to Maps Credit Union for serving as this month’s Forum Sponsor and to Hagan Hamilton Insurance Solutions for being our Presenting Sponsor for the entire 2024-2025 Forum Speaker Series season.
