At our monthly Business Advocacy Meeting on May 2, 2024, we received an update from six volunteer members of the City’s Alternative Revenue Task Force on the progress they have made thus far in identifying new revenue options for the City of Salem.

The update included the Task Force’s experience in the process and in meetings, one intriguing proposal that has come forward, and ideas that have been presented to the Task Force to consider.

We thank everyone who attended this Advocacy Meeting in person and online, especially our panel of Task Force members for sharing their time and their updates:

Raquel Moore-Green, former Oregon State Representative
TJ Sullivan, Account Executive with Hagan Hamilton Insurance Solutions
Bill Riecke, Owner of Bark Boys, Inc.
Russ Beaton, Salem City Club VP of Programs
David Rheinholdt, Owner of Rheinholdt Insurance Agency
Scott Cantonwine, Business Development & Marketing Manager with Cascade Warehouse Company

The Task Force is scheduled to meet several more times until at least July 2024, when it will be asked to provide recommendations to Salem City Council. We will keep our attention on its progress and the results of its work this summer and keep our members informed.
