On September 7, 2023, attendees of our monthly Business Advocacy Committee Meeting heard from Oregon Office of Economic Analysis Senior Economist Josh Lehner about the state’s most recent Economic and Revenue Forecast.
The meeting also included both sides of the debate over Salem’s Employee-Paid Payroll Tax, which voters will decide on during the November election.
Representing the Save Salem campaign were proponents of the tax, Salem City Councilor Virginia Stapleton (Ward 1) and former Salem Citizen Budget Committee member Paul Tigan; while Oregon Business & Industry (OBI) President & CEO Angela Wilhelms and OBI Political Affairs Director Preston Mann advocated for a no vote on the tax.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online, and a special thanks to all of our speakers:
