In June and July, the Salem Chamber held interviews with candidates seeking office in Oregon’s House District’s 19, 20, 22 and 25. Following these interviews with our Public Policy Committee and deliberations among the Chamber’s Board of Directors – we’re proud to offer our endorsements to the following candidates:

House District 19, serving South and Southeast Salem: Representative Jodi Hack

House District 20, serving South and West Salem, Monmouth and Independence: Laura Morett

House District 22, serving Northeast Salem and Woodburn: Patti Milne

House District 25, serving Keizer, St. Paul and Newberg: Representative Bill Post

An observation from the process was that our organization endorsed candidates that made it clear of their opposition to IP28, the tax measure that will be on November’s ballot. This is a tax that’s assessed on the gross sales in Oregon that would be the largest revenue boost to our General Fund in Oregon’s history paid only by some private sector employers.

These endorsements are important, as the candidates have been vetted and can be trusted with legislative votes that align with the needs of small businesses to grow well into the future. These candidates get it.
