BREAKING NEWS: Forum Speaker Change
“Following an inflammatory comment by U.S. Congressman Kurt Schrader (OR-D5) on a Caucus Conference call this afternoon (Friday), the Salem Chamber has chosen to change our keynote speaker for Monday’s Forum Speaker Series event, occurring virtually via Zoom. As our nation continues to see intentional acts of division and splintering, more than ever we need to continually create safe environments for thoughtful dialog regarding how we respect and celebrate the diversity of all humans across the nation and globe. I am proud to share that the Salem Chamber has pivoted our keynote address to two of Oregon’s most respected local elected officials, both of whom will address our membership at Monday’s Forum Speaker Series event. Join fellow Salem Chamber members in welcoming senior state legislators, Representative Brian Clem (D, District 21, Salem) and Representative Shelly Boshart Davis (R, District 15, Albany), who will share their leadership perspectives entering into the 2021 State Legislative Session. Both Clem and Boshart Davis bring incredible poise and independent thought to the State Capitol, and it has been a pleasure to partner with each throughout their time in office serving their District and all Oregonians. We also have the tremendous honor of recognizing Mrs. Willie Richardson, retired Salem small business owner, social justice advocate, and President of the Oregon Black Pioneers, with the Spirit of Salem Award. We appreciate the understanding of our membership as we switch keynote presenters. Our partners at Capitol Auto Group will graciously be sponsoring Monday’s Forum Speaker Series event.”
