The Salem Chamber’s Board of Directors unanimously supported the proposed Sidewalks and Public Spaces Ordinance, including the sit/lie ordinance and exclusion zones. CEO Tom Hoffert shared the official position with Salem City Council Monday evening, November 25.
City Council ultimately voted to remove the sit/lie portion of the ordinance, which will now have a second reading in December containing only verbiage around camping structures, left-behind property and waste on public properties.
