Andrew Holbert, Executive Director of Courtney Place Veterans Housing, will be recognized as the 2025 Outstanding Young Professional at the First Citizen Awards Banquet on Saturday, March 8.
Yesterday (February 19), a large group of Andrew’s friends, colleagues, veterans housing tenants, and supporters, including his girlfriend, Tanya, joined us to surprise him at the Withnell Family YMCA with the news of his recognition. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Andrew’s passion for serving fellow military veterans and their families comes from a deep-rooted dedication and a sense of duty to support those who have made the selfless sacrifice to defend our nation and our freedoms.
Since transitioning from his own military service, Andrew has embarked on a new career of giving back, leading efforts that address the immense challenges veterans and their families face every day in civilian life. Some of his impressive body of work in this field include securing funding for the Veterans Resource Center at Western Oregon University and pioneering workforce development initiatives for veterans in the State of Nevada.
Since 2023, Andrew has served as the Executive Director of the recently constructed Courtney Place Veterans Housing building, where he assists and supports veterans facing housing insecurity in the Salem community. But Andrew’s inspiring vision for the building extends far beyond simply providing shelter, as he sees Courtney Place as a “beacon of hope” and holistic support center for our brave veterans.
As a true patriot who leads with courage, compassion, and purpose, Andrew clearly embodies the characteristics of a servant leader, and we are proud to now call him an Outstanding Young Professional.
