Non-profit leader and education, community, and BIPOC advocate Oni Marchbanks will receive a Distinguished Service Award at the First Citizen Banquet on Saturday, April 8.
On Monday (March 20), we surprised Oni at Broadway Commons with the news of her award. Join us at the First Citizen Awards Banquet to see the surprise on video!
A lifelong learner and visionary leader with a passion for understanding the human experience, Oni’s transformational work impacts many in the Salem-Keizer area. As the co-founder of Equity By Design, LLC and non-profit Equity Splash, she works to create equitable outcomes for the Black and BIPOC community through educational experiences while also increasing visibility for Black-owned businesses.
Included among her many achievements as a community leader, last year Oni helped launch the Zenzele Learning Center, a science and technology program which mentors BIPOC students in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.
Stay tuned for more honoree announcements, and see below for the event details.
