On Monday, November 13, the 2023-2024 Forum Speaker Series continued with a discussion about how to create “A Path to Healthy Forests in Oregon.”
Led by experts in the forestry and fire management fields, along with Oregon Representative Ed Diehl (HD 17) who represents Santiam Canyon residents, the Forum provided insightful facts and statistics about Oregon’s forests and wildfires, as well as some ways we can better manage forests moving forward to mitigate the devasting impact wildfires can have on our region.
Thank you to our speakers this month:
- Representative Ed Diehl (Oregon House District 17)
- Julie Woodward, Director of Forestry, Oregon Forest Resources Institute
- Dr. John D. Bailey, Professor of Silviculture and Fire Management, College of Forestry, Oregon State University
In addition, the Forum recognized Oregon State Fair CEO Kim Grewe-Powell and Oregon State Fair Financial Manager Jean Wheat-Palm with the monthly Spirit of Salem Award for their work in putting on an incredible fair each year that serves as an economic driver and cultural pillar for our city and state.
We thank the Salem Convention Center for providing the venue and meal, and Allied Video Productions and Capital Community Media for their help with producing this event.
Finally, special thanks go to Express Employment Professionals for sponsoring this month’s Forum Luncheon, and to Hagan Hamilton Insurance Solutions for being the Presenting Sponsor of the entire 2023-2024 Forum Speaker Series season.
