Williams will serve until 2018 year-end to allow for transition time with successor
SALEM, OR. – The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that Chief Executive Officer, Nick Williams is stepping down for family reasons, effective December 31, 2018. The Board has begun a search for Williams’ successor and plans to have someone in place before year-end to allow for a smooth transition.
“Nick has been an integral part of the success of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce since he joined the team in 2012. The Board is thankful for his years of service and leadership,” said T.J. Sullivan, Chamber Board President and President of Huggins Insurance. “We understand and support his decision to step down for family reasons and are grateful for his many accomplishments. We wish Nick and his family the very best.”
Williams has served in various roles at the Salem Area Chamber since joining the team in 2012. Hired to manage new membership, he went on to run successful campaigns as the leader of the advocacy department, such as the campaign to defeat the local payroll tax in 2015; then was promoted to Chief Operations Officer, followed by the role of CEO in 2017.
“The opportunity to serve at the Salem Chamber for the past six years has been the professional experience of a lifetime,” said Williams. “I’m grateful for the teammates, board members and leaders that have been champions for Salem with me. The Chamber is a remarkable place to work.”
There will be a celebration of Nick Williams’ service at Victory Club on December 7th from 4-6 p.m. More details to follow.
