In November of 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower called upon all Americans to “solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom.” Today, we have the opportunity to do just that.

Our Chamber of Commerce has a long history of service to our great nation. As you look at our wall of past presidents, we are reminded that many of those leaders in our community have served valiantly across the globe, defending the freedoms that we hold so dear. These individuals were involved with deployments abroad and within our borders, all under the premise of service in mind.

Military service throughout our business community has a lasting impact. Many were taught how to look challenges in the face without fear and to push through adversity through their years of service to our great nation. This MUST be passed down to our future generations. As business leaders, we have a responsibility to pass our experiences along to those future leaders who will carry the torch throughout our communities. This is why our involvement with the Chamber of Commerce is so valuable. We have the opportunity to pass those lessons on to those that will take our place.

As a current member of the Armed Forces, I am in awe of the next generation of leaders and their continued belief in selfless service. As a Command Sergeant Major in the Army Reserve, I have the opportunity to speak with many soldiers under our command. I am blown away by their sacrifice and willingness to step up when many will not.

Today, we honor those of the past and present who carry the title of Veteran. It is because of you and your willingness to serve that we can rest easy at night.

Happy Veterans Day!
