The Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 6 Salem, a Salem Chamber member recently hired another member, ProFund Fundraising Solutions, to help them raise over $25,000 for their non-profit work in the community.
DAV Ch. 6 Salem had no regular means of income except occasional donations, according to Commander Dave Wentz. Dave works nearly single-handedly to provide vital services allowing Veterans to have the care and support they need.
Jason Lewis of Lewis Media Group, another member of the Salem Area Chamber, heard about the scarcity of funds for DAV Ch. 6 Salem and talked with Jerry Stevens of ProFund about helping them raise support. After consulting with Commander Wentz, other DAV Ch. 6 Salem board members, and several Chamber members, DAV Ch. 6 Salem hired ProFund to help them raise funds.
Jason, Jerry, and 15 others signed up to participate and raise funds in the local DAV chapter’s first annual Golfathon with the day of celebration at Topgolf on Oct 14th. Altogether, they raised the funds by getting 219 pledges/donations from individuals and businesses. Overhead Door of Salem, Guild Mortgage, and Davidson’s Masonry Inc. were co-title sponsors. Seven additional Chamber members were business sponsors.
A portion of the funds raised plan to be used to provide a part-time administrative assistant to help with additional fundraising and community awareness. Other expenses can now be covered as well including office supplies, a printer, and office space. For more info about the DAV Salem go to: davsalem.org.
