On February 21, Avelo Airlines, Salem Airport’s exclusive commercial carrier, announced it will offer twice-weekly flights from Salem Municipal Airport (SLE) to Sonoma County Airport (STS) beginning on May 3, 2024.
The new non-stop flights mark the airline’s third destination from Salem, adding to Las Vegas and Los Angeles/Burbank, which have been offered since October of last year. Located in Santa Rosa, California, the new destination will give Salem-area travelers access to Northern California’s Bay Area and its world-renowned wine country, while also providing Bay Area residents access to all the Willamette Valley has to offer, including its own premier wine country.
“Today’s announcement of Avelo’s expansion into serving the Bay Area out of SLE is a tremendous economic win for the regional business community and to residents across the Willamette Valley,” said Salem Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Hoffert. “Now, two of our nation’s most desirable wine country locales will each have convenient access to the other’s unique market. Avelo’s flights into the Bay Area provide Oregon residents with a direct route to Sonoma & Napa, while Northern California residents may now easily tap into Oregon’s premier wine country here in the Willamette Valley. The incremental growth in commercial airline service occurring at SLE leaves our leadership confident that Salem will continue to become a significant affordable option for business and leisure travel for years to come.”
Avelo announced that one-way fares to Sonoma will start as low as $62 and are available to book now. To book your trip to any of Avelo’s three destinations from Salem, visit aveloair.com.
