At our monthly Business Advocacy Meeting on August 1, 2024, we heard from Chemeketa Community College President, Dr. Jessica Howard, as well as from members of the Chemeketa Bond Campaign about the school’s upcoming bond proposal, which will be a measure on the ballot in the November General Election.

As one of our region’s primary workforce development drivers, Chemeketa Community College showed community polling data that illustrated public support for the bond, which is set for $140 million over a term of 15-20 years.

In this presentation, President Howard details the program areas the bond would support. She also discusses how Chemeketa has remained a strong and responsible steward of funding from the most recent bond in 2008, which has helped the institution continue to create incredible education experiences and opportunities, and a skilled local workforce for Salem and its surrounding areas.

The Salem Chamber thanks everyone who attended this meeting, in person and online, especially this month’s panel of presenters for sharing their time.

PRESENTERS:

Dr. Jessica Howard, Chemeketa Community College President
Theresa Haskins, Chemeketa Bond Campaign Chair
Chuck Adams, Chemeketa Bond Campaign Political Advisor
