At our monthly Business Advocacy Meeting on January 9, 2025, we heard from three Salem-area state legislators about their priorities and committee assignments for the upcoming 2025 Legislative Session. The legislators touched on several issues, including housing, homelessness, and a Capital District Plan, which would allocate more dollars to the City of Salem from the state government.

The meeting also included a preview of the session from Oregon Business & Industry, highlighting OBI’s pro-business agenda and state agency reform recommendations. Salem Chamber’s contracted lobbyist also discussed her business legislative priorities and representation of the Chamber at the Capitol this session.

We’d like to thank everyone who attended in person and online, including our panel of presenters:

  • Senator Deb Patterson (SD10)
  • Representative Tom Andersen (HD19)
  • Representative Kevin Mannix (HD21)
  • Paloma Sparks, OBI Executive VP and General Counsel
  • Nicole Palmateer Hazelbaker, Bravio Communications Owner and the Salem Chamber’s contracted lobbyist

The Legislative Session will begin on January 21, 2025. Stay tuned for more information as we learn about the bills that could impact Salem-area businesses.
