Beauty, Beverages & Books Owner Andrea Randall

Something vibrant, welcoming, and beautifully unique is here in Salem — and it’s more than just a business. It’s a movement, a sanctuary, and a celebration of culture, community, and creativity. Beauty, Beverages & Books, open at 1070 Broadway St NE, is poised to become one of Salem’s most inspiring new spaces.

Combining a beauty salon, an assortment and ever-changing beverage experience, and a curated used book selection with almost every genre, this storefront is part salon, part café, part bookstore, and all heart.

A Vision Rooted in Culture and Connection

Beauty, Beverages & Books isn’t just a name — it’s a philosophy. Behind the concept is a clear and intentional mission: to create a safe, affirming, and joyful space where community members — especially those from historically excluded identities — can gather, feel seen, and thrive.

Whether you come in for a fresh look, a chilled or hot beverage, or a powerful story that reflects your lived experience, you’ll find something that feeds the spirit and celebrates identity.

At its core, the space is about more than services or products. It’s about healing, empowerment, and radical hospitality.

That vision is deeply personal for Andrea Randall, the founder behind the concept. For over 20 years, Andrea made her living cutting hair — a craft she loved — but years of standing behind the chair took a toll on her body and joints. Then, a life-changing event shifted everything: she lost her hearing. Though she eventually received implants, they made the world too loud, too sharp, and too overwhelming.

Instead of stepping away from the profession and community she loved, Andrea chose to reimagine it. Drawing on her lived experience, she created a space that offers more than a service, but one that offers safety, rest, and reflection. Her personal journey informs every detail, from how the salon chairs are arranged to how guests are welcomed. This is a space designed to emotionally hold people, just as much as it serves them.
