Chemeketa Announces Appointment of New Diversity and Equity Officer
Vivi Caleffi Prichard accepts position beginning November 1

Salem, Ore., Oct. 23, 2018 — Chemeketa Community College recently announced the appointment of Vivi Caleffi Prichard as its new Diversity and Equity Officer effective November 1, 2018.

Vivi Caleffi Prichard has served as Chemeketa’s Title IX Officer since 2015. As the Title IX Officer, she has been responsible for leading the college’s efforts toward gender equity in education. Vivi joined Chemeketa in 2008 and has held multiple human resources positions where diversity and equity has been a component. She was involved in the initial development and implementation of the faculty diversity efforts and has provided numerous trainings to search committees in the areas of equal employment, equity and diversity. She has established college partnerships with the local community and a confidential reporting program to best serve students who experience sexual violence.

“I hope to be able to build on the amazing work that has been done so far,” says Vivi. “To continue to provide opportunities for students and employees to solidify a foundation of cultural competence so we can best serve our community, prepare our students for a diverse and global environment and foster a climate of acceptance, tolerance and belonging.”

Vivi was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, where she earned her BA in Communications. Vivi’s path to earning a Master’s degree in Business Administration from George Fox University began at Chemeketa where she took her first writing courses. She replaces Linda Herrera who retired after 31 years at Chemeketa.

“I am very pleased that Vivi accepted the position of Diversity and Equity Officer,” President Julie Huckestein shared. “Vivi’s knowledge of and passion for diversity, equity and inclusion make her the perfect person for this role. I am certain she will use her talents to move the college’s efforts forward and build on our strong connections in the community.”
