At a special Business Advocacy Forum hosted at the Salem Chamber on July 31, Cherriots General Manager Allan Pollock and the Cherriots Board of Directors engaged with the Salem and Keizer business communities about an upcoming Employer-Paid Payroll Transit Tax, which is set to be implemented on January 1, 2026.
In 2018, legislation was passed that provided Cherriots with taxing authority for this upcoming Employer-Paid Transit Tax.
This Forum provided business owners and employees with the opportunity to ask questions directly to Cherriots’ leaders and express their concerns about how the tax would impact their businesses.
We thank the more than 130 members of the community who joined us in person for this important conversation and Cherriots’ leadership for engaging with us.
