The Salem Chamber joined five other business organizations including the Keizer Chamber, Home Builders Association of Marion & Polk Counties, West Salem Business Alliance, Mid-Valley Association of REALTORS, and SEDCOR to collaborate with the Salem Area Mass Transit District (Cherriots) to address the long-term mobility needs of the community.
After a discussion with Cherriots’ General Manager Allan Pollock and Board President Maria Hinojos Pressey, this Task Force, which includes business coalition representatives and the Board of Cherriots, a motion to sunset the Task Force was approved on June 25 due to the upcoming retirement of Cherriots’ General Manager Allan Pollock and the need to reorganize the Task Force under a more formal structure. Once a new General Manager for Cherriots is selected in the fall, the Salem Chamber anticipates resuming these important community discussions. When, and if, the wage tax conversation returns, we will continue to keep our members updated while advocating on behalf of our Salem business community.
