Rich Harcourt takes Salem and art seriously. Thankfully, he’s been a pioneer in fusing our city and a burgeoning art scene together.

Never seeking the spotlight, Rich has quietly led monumental projects like the restoration of Elsinore Theater, bringing sculptures to Salem’s Convention Center and founding the Salem Public Arts Commission.

Of Rich, past First Citizen Hazel Patton said “a distinguished citizen is someone who has accomplished a lot in our community, and someone who loves people. You show that every day. You make those around you feel like 100%.”

Ever humble, Rich thanked the “spark plugs” that were in attendance to celebrate his surprise receiving the Distinguished Service Award like Hazel.

Rich – thank you for going all in for Salem, and for adding to our community’s vibrancy and vigor. You’re a tireless champion for art and culture in the city we love. It’s an honor to celebrate you as a Distinguished Service Award recipient.

Rich will be honored at the First Citizen Awards banquet, held March 3rd, 2017. For more information, please click here.
