Governor Kotek Announces Additional Multnomah County Circuit Court Vacancy

Kathryn Villa-Smith to retire from Multnomah County Bench

Estacada, OR — Governor Tina Kotek announced today that she intends to fill a judicial vacancy on the Multnomah County Circuit Court created by the planned retirement of Judge Kathryn L. Villa-Smith. The Governor thanked Judge Villa-Smith for her dedicated judicial service. The retirement of Judge Villa-Smith is effective December 31, 2023.

This appointment will be assigned to the Multnomah County Circuit Court’s Family Law Department.

The Governor’s Office is currently conducting a Multnomah County appointment process to fill the vacancy created by the previously announced retirement of Judge Michael S. Loy. The 10 applicants who applied for the previously announced vacancy will be considered for Judge Villa-Smith’s position. No additional applications will be accepted.
